US Embassy – Frankly Speaking Mace Debate March 2024

Mrs Howlett took members of the Sixth Form debating team to the US Embassy to participate in the Frankly Speaking Mace. Ayaan and Anisa debated with other top schools over the US/UK special relationship, and whether global misinformation is only a 21st century phenomenon. They completed weeks of research and were well prepared for the day. Though they did not make it to the final, they did an amazing job and learnt a lot along the way. Plans are already in place to take the medals next year! Diana and Safa were there to provide support and they invigilated one of the junior debates with professionalism.

One of the highlights was meeting Baroness Anelay. She was gracious enough to spend some time with the students and discuss careers in diplomacy, as well as give some words of encouragement.
