Duke Of Edinburgh Award
At TFA, pupils are offered the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award for both the bronze and silver awards. Students will commit themselves for several months to volunteering in our local community across charities, places and worship and within school, improving their physical health and wellness and developing new skills, such as cooking, learning a language and enhancing their academic abilities. Along with their self-development, students as part of their award partake in an overnight expedition where they orienteer themselves in a new location using only a map and compass. They also get to camp and be immersed within a natural environment in order to develop their outdoor skills such as cooking on an outdoor stove, pitching and sleeping in tents and engaging themselves in activities outside.
