Youth Democracy Presentations

Our Year 11s embarked on the Redbridge Youth Project last May and culminated their efforts on October 24th, 2024, with an impressive showcase in the Town Hall Chamber. Our students had the incredible opportunity to present on topics that truly matter to them, directly to Redbridge MPs and council cabinet members.

While Woodbridge and Ilford County schools also participated, it was clear that The Forest Academy stole the show. Our students’ enthusiasm, confidence, and sheer number of presenters were truly awe-inspiring.

The feedback on the night was overwhelmingly positive. Our students were praised for their respectful, engaging, and challenging presentations. A recurring theme was the council cabinet’s incredible gratitude for having such dedicated, intelligent, and informed young people in their community and how proud they were to have The Forest Academy students in their borough.

Megan Walsh, the project manager of the event, was so impressed that she expressed her admiration via email afterwards, stating:

“Just sending a huge thank you for last night. The students are a real credit to Forest Academy. Councillors, MPs, and Officers were all praising their presentations and passion for the topics.”

As a reward for their exceptional performance, our students will tour the House of Parliament, and many have been recommended to join the youth Redbridge council.

We’re incredibly proud of their achievements!
