At the Forest Academy, our Geography Department is driven by the desire to nurture independent learners, developing key analytical and communication skills that will be useful in whatever path they take after leaving school. Geography is the study of the surface of the Earth, the processes that shape it and the people that live on it. It is one of the traditional “enabling” subjects, and is well respected across education as a subject that uses English, Mathematical and Science skills and applies these to the modern world. We want all students to understand the value of the subject, and to be confident that they have the skills to be a successful Geographer.

At The Forest Academy we teach a range of Physical and Human Geography topics, including Rivers and Coasts, Ecosystems and Weather, Development and Migration. We use current examples and data wherever possible, and cover all of the elements that you would expect from a “Geography” education. We follow the Edexcel Geography A specification at GCSE and A-Level, which has a blend of Human and Physical topics that relate well to the skills and experiences of our students.
