YEAR 7

Year 7 marks a powerful moment of transition a year filled with growth, discovery and new beginnings. As students step into this next stage of their journey, we are committed to nurturing their potential, supporting their academic progress, and encouraging their personal development. Through a rich blend of learning experiences and extracurricular opportunities, our students are inspired to explore, to question and to challenge themselves.

‘Respect and community spirit’ is the Year 7 ethos it is the foundation of building a culture of inclusion, confidence, ambition, and kindness. These values support students in developing strong relationships, a sense of belonging, and the confidence to take risks in their learning.

Year 7 is also a time for building strong foundations both academically and personally. Students are encouraged to develop positive learning habits, embrace challenge, and understand that progress comes through effort and resilience.

Alongside this, students benefit from a wide range of enrichment opportunities, enabling them to explore new interests and talents beyond the classroom. From the very beginning, students are introduced to student leadership opportunities, helping them to develop confidence, responsibility, and a sense of contribution to the wider school community.

YEAR 8

Year 8 is an important stage in our students’ journey at The Forest Academy. It is a year of continued growth, independence, and new opportunities, where students build on the skills and knowledge developed in Year 7. This year, we place a strong emphasis on reflection, responsibility, and being the best you can be.

We encourage students to take pride in their achievements, learn from their experiences, and strive for personal excellence in all they do. Students are supported to deepen their academic development, while also building confidence by embracing challenge, developing resilience, and stepping beyond their comfort zone.

By setting meaningful goals and taking ownership of their learning and behaviour, students grow as successful learners, confident individuals, and responsible citizens. This is also a key year for developing ambition, as students begin to recognise how their effort and attitude shape future opportunities.

Students continue to benefit from a wide range of enrichment opportunities, allowing them to develop new interests, talents, and skills beyond the classroom. They are also encouraged to take on increasing leadership opportunities, strengthening their confidence, independence, and contribution to school life.

YEAR 9

Year 9 is a significant stage in our students’ journey at The Forest Academy. It is a year of continued growth, independence, and new opportunities, where students begin to prepare for the transition from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4. This year focuses on futures, careers, and next steps, as students start to shape their pathways.

We place a strong emphasis on ambition, academic commitment, and personal development, supporting students to reflect on their strengths, interests, and aspirations. As they approach their GCSE choices, students are guided to make informed decisions about their future, understanding the importance of effort, resilience, and high expectations.

Students are encouraged to take pride in their achievements, respond to feedback, and continue striving for excellence. By setting clear goals and taking ownership of their learning, they develop the confidence and independence needed for success in Key Stage 4 and beyond.

A wide range of enrichment opportunities continues to support students in exploring their interests and developing new talents. Student leadership also plays an important role in Year 9, with students taking on greater responsibility and acting as role models within the school community.

By the end of Year 9, students leave with confidence, clarity, and ambition, ready to take the next step in their education and future career journey.
