The aim of the media department and the courses it runs from GCSE year 10 & 11 through to BTEC level 2 & 3, is to provide a broad introduction to the media industry and to introduce students to working in a practical and project-led environment. Students study a range of media forms in terms of a theoretical framework, which consists of media language, representation, media industries and audiences.
Students will learn and develop practical and communication skills needed for working in the media industry both on their own and working as part of a team.
There is a strong emphasis on using professional media language and techniques, whilst using professional equipment and resources, as used in the media industry. This is an exciting environment that encourages students to be creative through production projects including music videos and advertisements. Students develop skills, knowledge and confidence that can be transferred to further studies or future employment.
