The Science department is an experienced team, offering a balance of the three subject specialisms. We also have a full time technician, assisted by two part-time technicians. Our Science department is a hardworking and enthusiastic team that is dedicated to providing Students with a high quality all round education. We are proud to highlight five consecutive years of rising standards in results in KS4.
We are housed in our own building and have eight purpose built laboratories spread over two floors, each floor having its own preparation room and staff working area. We are fortunate enough to have interactive whiteboards in all laboratories.
Our laboratories are well resourced, practical work being enhanced by the use of modern data logging equipment. Revision classes are popular and we regularly organise outings to lectures and places of scientific interest. At the academy, Science is stimulating and fun. Biology, Chemistry and Physics are integrated at Key Stage 3.
At Key Stage 4, for examination in 2017 we offer 3 courses:
Triple Science – GCSEs in Science, Additional Science and Further Additional Science.
Double Science – GCSEs in Science and Additional Science.
Single Science – GCSE in Science.
